p.1
The provision is good
The philosophy 'helping children to be happy and confident individuals' is what makes this setting so welcoming. Children bound into the setting laughing and giggling as they enter this welcoming and homely environment. They are happy and settled, and the childminder provides plenty of love and cuddles. The children have very strong bonds with her as her nurturing and calm nature helps them feel safe and secure. For example, children climb on her lap and snuggle in for a cuddle when they are tired or need additional emotional support. The children have high levels of self-esteem and are extremely confident.
p.2
The provision is good
Children benefit from a well-planned and ambitious curriculum. The childminder provides a range of learning experiences and opportunities for children to develop new skills. For example, children play with the autumn-themed play dough tuff tray. They roll and cut the dough with scissors and roll the pine cones in the dough to make prints. This supports children to develop small-muscle skills in preparation for early writing. The childminder has high expectations for children's behaviour and is an excellent role model. She has clear rules and boundaries and helps children to understand the impact of their behaviour on others. Children listen carefully and follow the childminder's instructions to use 'kind hands'. They are extremely well behaved.

n The childminder takes the children out into the local community. She takes them to playgroups so that they can make new friends and develop their social skills. Children also visit local parks where they toast marshmallows over candles while collecting conkers. They visit museums and theme parks. This helps to build on children's prior knowledge and experiences and develops their knowledge of the world. n Overall, the childminder teaches children about the world they live in, such as learning about wildlife and cultural events. However, she does not consistently teach children about differences and similarities between themselves and others to support their growing understanding of diversity. n The childminder interacts well with the children as they play happily with the play dough. She skilfully encourages children to develop their mathematical understanding. Children make simple calculations, such as working out the total
