The provision is good
The childminder works well alongside a co-childminder. They communicate effectively and have created a harmonious atmosphere for the children. The childminder offers a warm welcome to children as they arrive. She has a calming and caring manner, which helps children feel safe and secure. She has high expectations for children's behaviour. Children are kind and polite. The childminder is a positive role model and helps children to understand their emotions. For instance, she has created a feelings board where children place their photograph underneath the emotion they are feeling. Children begin to recognise and label their growing feelings. Their personal, social and emotional development is supported well.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder respects the children's individuality and values their opinions. She considers their interests when creating exciting activities for them to engage in. For example, children express that they would like to make a rocket ship to fly into space. The childminder supports the children's interests by providing materials and media to facilitate their creativity. The children are inspired and use their imaginations and look at books as they plan how they are going to make their rocket ship. They paint a large box and decorate it with other materials such as bubble wrap. Children are deeply engrossed. When the rocket ship is dry, children make believe by sitting inside and pretend to go to space. The childminder supports their play and counts "5, 4, 3, 2, 1 blast off" as they zoom to the moon. Children learn a range of techniques and skills to support their role-play.

need to do better?
n The childminder demonstrates good leadership and management skills. She seeks to improve her knowledge by attending training such as, supporting children to understand good oral health. The childminder implements new knowledge in practice by providing activities that help children understand the importance of brushing their teeth. Children are supported well as they learn to keep themselves healthy. n The childminder has created a well-sequenced curriculum, which focuses on the children's present needs. She implements this well through her interactions and the play experiences she offers. Children thrive across all seven areas of learning. The childminder knows the children extremely well. This is an aspect of her provision she is most confident in. Children are provided with next step goals that are skilfully tailored to support their needs. These next steps are shared with parents to ensure consistency in learning. Children have positive attitudes

19 November 2024 listen intently to what the childminder says. However, not all activities are adapted well enough to suit the needs and abilities of the youngest children. At times, the intention for learning can be too complex, and they struggle to participate. Despite this, children are keen to learn and enjoy being part of a group. n Children are developing strong communication and language skills. The childminder skilfully builds on children's vocabulary by providing commentary and adding new words during her conversations. She sensitively corrects children's mispronunciations by repeating words back to them, placing emphasis on key sounds and letters. Children learn new words rapidly and use them when communicating. n The childminder supports the children as they learn to become independent. She gently encourages them to do things for themselves and provides support where it is needed. Children help set the table at mealtimes and sit well. The

childminder talks to children about being healthy and encourages them to identify the vegetables in their meal. Children enjoy this social time. n Parent partnership is good. The childminder works tirelessly to establish strong professional relationships with parents. She works closely with them to seek their views on their children's learning and development. Parents express that the childminder offers excellent learning opportunities, and they are grateful for the care their children receive. n Outdoor learning is a strength of the provision offered. Children love being outside and have opportunities to explore the outdoor environment in all weathers. The childminder ensures children are dressed appropriately for the colder weather. Children enjoy activities such as, water play, decorating a Christmas tree, and role play. They find out by exploring and investigating their surroundings. The childminder teaches children to look for dangers, and
