Summary of outcome
All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage', which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2 If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 6 September 2024, we received concerns that the childminder was not meeting requirements relating to supporting and understanding children's behaviour; suitability and safety of premises, environment and equipment; and health.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 13 November 2024, we carried out a regulatory visit. We found the childminder provides children with a wide range of healthy meals. On outings, she encourages children to eat their savoury contents in their packed lunches before eating their treats. This helps children to make good food choices.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The childminder has clear procedures for responding to accidents. She administers first aid, logs details in the accident record and shares information with parents. The childminder also works with parents to promote children's intimate hygiene. For example, if young children develop nappy rash, the childminder administers cream with parents' permission. She also provides breathable nappies to help ensure children's comfort.
p.1
Summary of outcome
Children's behaviour is managed well, which helps to build their confidence and self-esteem. The childminder speaks to children in a kind manner and children approach her with ease. Children are extremely settled and contented in the childminder's care.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The childminder is vigilant at keeping children safe on outings. She sets boundaries to help children understand pedestrian and road safety. For example, children hold on to the handlebars of the pushchair. The childminder also ensures that new children, who do not understand road safety, wear reins. These measures keep children safe.
p.1
Summary of outcome
During the visit, we found the childminder was not meeting the adult-to-child ratio requirements. The childminder worked alone and cared for more than six children in the early years age range for one hour per day. Although children were well behaved and there was no impact on their well-being, this arrangement posed a risk to their safety. Due to the high number of children being cared for, we served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the childminder to take the action below within the timescale set out. The childminder will be able to give parents further information about this. Action needed by 5 December 2024:
p.1
Summary of outcome
n organise staffing arrangements effectively and ensure the total number of children under the age of eight being cared for does not exceed six per person.
p.2
Summary of outcome
On 11 December 2024, we conducted a regulatory visit. We found the childminder had re- organised her assistants' working hours to ensure the required adult-to-child ratios were met at all times. We are satisfied these arrangements meet the needs of children and the childminder has met this action. The childminder is still registered with Ofsted.
