p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is privately owned. It is registered to provide care for up to three children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
No children were living in the home at the time of the monitoring visit.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home has been without a registered manager since July 2024.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 20 and 21 August 2024.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following the full inspection, Ofsted took action under section 20B of the Care Standards Act 2000, issuing a notice suspending the registration to carry on the children’s home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit took place to monitor the progress made by the provider and to ensure that the provider was adhering to the suspension notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, a number of staff have left the organisation. Leaders and managers are in the process of recruiting staff; however, at the time of the inspection, only three staff were employed. This means that the provider does not yet have the sufficient number of staff to care for children safely or to ensure that children will be looked after by a stable and experienced workforce.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A manager has now been recruited. He has not applied to register with Ofsted or completed all relevant training. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2771409 2 The manager has held a meeting with the staff to discuss their roles and responsibilities in caring for children and to reflect on the last inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have completed a number of training courses, most of which have been online. The manager has not yet completed reflection with staff to discuss how they will implement their learning in practice. This is a missed opportunity to support the improvement of staff practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Team members have now all completed behaviour management training and have been supported to reflect on the significant shortfalls from the last inspection and how the care for children can be improved.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have taken some action to revise documents to support the referral and admission process, ensuring a thorough assessment of the individual needs of children alongside the skills and experience of the staff team. Other key documents, such as behaviour, care and support plans, have been revised. However, risk plans have not yet been developed in a way that supports staff to safeguard children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Action has been taken to improve the condition of the home, and all children’s bedrooms contain sufficient furniture.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have recently reviewed the statement of purpose, which contains the details of staff who do not work at the home and had not been shared with Ofsted. The requirement set at the full inspection has been restated.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements raised at the full inspection were not looked at during this visit. Therefore, they remain requirements until the home’s next full inspection. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2771409 3
