Inspection of Arty Em's Holy Rosary Catholic Voluntary Academy, Alexandra Road, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire DE15 0JE

p.1

This provision meets requirements

Staff provide a warm welcome for children arriving from school. They work hard to ensure that the club is an inclusive environment for all children who attend. Children arrive at the club happily, eager to be with their friends. They learn to follow simple routines to help them become self-reliant. For instance, they arrive, hang up their coat and bag, wash their hands and queue up for their snack. While they eat, staff sit and talk with them. They listen to children with genuine interest and ask them about what they have been learning at school. Staff are sensitive and kind and help children settle, particularly those that are new to the club. This helps to develop a sense of well-being and provides children with emotional security.

For instance, they play mathematics-based games and enjoy reading. Children play games together, and this helps to build their friendship groups. n Staff recognise the importance of supporting children to be independent and confident. They do this through discussions and supporting children to gain new experiences. All children listen and respond well to staff. Children mix well across different age groups. They have a shared understanding of the rules at the club. Staff provide children with quiet spaces, as well as opportunities for them to exert their energy.
