The provider can accommodate up to five individuals in self-contained units where the accommodation is for the sole use of the child and ring-fenced shared accommodation. The service manager registered on the same date. At the time of registration, the provider had 13 properties offering supported accommodation for up to 38 children.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit was carried out as Ofsted received information that suggested two children may have been placed outside of the scope of the provider’s registration. The provider was given one hours’ notice of the visit. The visit took place at the offices operated by the provider.

p.1

This monitoring visit

One child had been placed in the service before registration with Ofsted. They required a higher level of supervision than is expected in supported accommodation. However, there was a clear plan to reduce the level of support, and this was enacted before the child moved. Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Aden Homes Limited 2 Another child, whose needs fluctuated and who required higher levels of supervision when they were unwell, had also been placed. The provider had systems in place to respond to this and had provided a safe service for the child. When the child’s needs increased, leaders and managers worked well with partner organisations to ensure that the child received an appropriate and safe response.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Incident reports are detailed and show that staff support children in a positive way. There is a clear picture of what caused each incident, how staff responded to keep children safe and the action taken to resolve each incident. Although the provider notifies Ofsted of serious events, one notification had been sent late. The manager has now implemented a system to ensure that timely notifications are made.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leadership and management arrangements are effective and there is effective oversight of services. Managers have reacted responsively to changes, to provide support and ensure the safety of children. When children have experienced poor mental health, leaders and managers have enabled staff to work in positive ways to support children to remain as safe as possible.
