p.1
The provision is good
The childminder provides children with an ambitious curriculum that includes a well-organised, welcoming learning environment, indoors and outdoors. She provides children with a wide range of activities that are matched to each child's age and stage of development to further support their good developmental progress. Children thoroughly enjoy the childminder's involvement in their play and are motivated to learn.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has a caring, inclusive approach. She supports children to behave well, for example, through lots of praise and positive reinforcement, explaining to children what is expected and why. Children are very happy and settled.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder supports and extends children's physical development well. For example, she teaches children how to control their movements as they push wheeled toys around the garden. During outings to woodland areas and parks, children learn to balance, for instance, as they run around woodland trees and use climbing apparatus. The childminder helps children develop good hand: eye coordination, for example, as she teaches them to join magnetic shapes and sections of a play train track. Children enjoy learning to pour water using different sized jugs, which they use to water flowers in the childminder's garden.

need to do better?
n The childminder helps children develop the skills they need for the future. For example, she joins in their play and teaches them new words, introducing resources such as musical instruments that inspire children to remember and sing songs they have learned. The childminder comments on what children do during their play and asks questions that encourage children to talk and engage in conversation. For example, children remember and use a wide range of vocabulary to describe their visits to the seaside. n The childminder has a very good knowledge of children's individual development which she uses to help them make good progress. Since the last inspection, the childminder has improved how she helps children to think and find their own solutions. Now she shows and explains to children how to do things and gives them time to try things for themselves. Children learn through trial and error, for example, as they sort and join magnetic shapes.
p.2
need to do better?
n Overall, the childminder uses her good knowledge of children's individual needs and progress to challenge and extend their learning and development. However, when children occasionally lose interest during their play, the childminder does not always consider how she can sustain their involvement and help them focus. For example, when children become distracted during a story, she does not think about how to adapt her teaching practice to keep them engaged. Consequently,

need to do better?
22 October 2024 children are not consistently supported to build their concentration skills, and instead they quickly move on to another activity. n The childminder forms close emotional relationships with children. She gives all children equal attention, supporting them well as they learn to share and take turns and include others in their play. Children develop good social skills, for example, during regular outings to a toddler group where they widen their friendships. n The childminder provides children with a positive role model and often praises children for their achievements. Children develop good self-esteem as they proudly tell the childminder what they already know, such as the colour and shape of resources. n The childminder continuously improves outcomes for children. For example, she has improved how she plans activities for the children, often sharing ideas with other childminders. As a result, the childminder now provides children with a

wider range of activities in her home and on outings to toddler groups that successfully support children's creative skills. n The childminder helps children develop good independence. For instance, she encourages them to find their coat and shoes and to do things for themselves, such as using safe knives to cut bananas to eat at snack time. n The childminder works well in partnership with parents to meet children's individual needs and provide continuity. She regularly shares information with parents about children's progress and agrees changes to children's care routines in preparation for them starting pre-school.
