From 2 to 4 July 2024, Ofsted carried out a full inspection of the children’s home. Following the inspection, the home was judged to be inadequate. Serious and widespread concerns were identified in the care and protection of children and the leadership and management of the home. Compliance notices were issued under regulations 12 and 13. A restriction of accommodation notice was also imposed.

This monitoring visit

On 6 August 2024, a monitoring visit took place to review the organisation’s progress with meeting the steps set out in the compliance notices. This monitoring visit

Managers have conducted a reflective review of incidents in the home to evaluate the experiences of children. Where shortfalls were identified with practice, further training has been attended by staff to develop and improve practice. Managers consulted with children who previously lived at the home as part of their review. Appropriate action has been taken to address the feedback provided by children. This practice has the potential to improve the quality of care and outcomes for children.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A comprehensive review of their monitoring and reviewing systems has taken place by managers. This has helped to evaluate their effectiveness in maintaining oversight of the home and the safety and quality of care for children. New tracking systems have been implemented to ensure that there is robust oversight of all aspects of the children’s home and the care children receive. The new systems aim to have oversight from senior care workers, managers and senior leaders. This approach is likely to ensure that the monitoring and reviewing systems are effective and that shortfalls are identified promptly.
