The provision is good

The childminder works effectively to get to know children well. This enables her to build trusting relationships with children, including those who have recently started. The childminder teaches children how to keep safe during play. She reminds children to use ride-on toys carefully in the garden to minimise accidents. The childminder promotes children's good behaviour by modelling polite words, such as 'please' and 'thank you'. Children display positive attitudes towards their learning. For instance, during an activity, they ask happily, 'Do you like my painting?' Children thrive on praise and encouragement in the setting.

The provision is good

The childminder creates an ambitious curriculum for all children. She provides opportunities for children to hear nursery stories, rhymes and songs. This helps to develop and extend children's language skills. The childminder holds high expectations for all children. She encourages independence in all activities and routines. As a result, children are keen to do things for themselves. For example, children have a good go at putting on and removing their shoes before asking for assistance. The older ones know what to do throughout the day, including when to wash their hands. Children show good levels of self-esteem in their abilities.
