The provision is good
The childminder supports children to develop their independence skills in readiness for the next stage of their learning. They self-register on their arrival, using pictures of themselves. They confidently tell the inspector the names of all their friends and point to their photos. The childminder supports children to use cutlery when they eat their food, and encourages them to put on their bib before they eat.
p.2
The provision is good
Children learn to have good manners, saying 'please' and 'thank you' during the daily routine, and to use their 'kind hands' with their friends. The childminder helps children to understand and recognise different cultures. For example, they decorate candles for Diwali, complete an egg hunt for Easter and taste different foods within the daily menu.

The provision is good
Children enjoy going on local walks; they collect different-coloured leaves and conkers, which they later use during their play. The childminder encourages children to understand and recognise numbers to support their mathematical development. They count three conkers, place them into a cup and point to the number 3 printed in the play area. Children enjoy role play. They talk about building towers of bricks and take turns in pushing the wheelbarrow.

need to do better?
n The childminder plans and provides a varied curriculum covering all areas of learning, which incorporates children's interests and celebrations throughout the year. She ensures the environment supports children's learning, with a focus on gaining the skills and knowledge they need for their move to school. The childminder observes the children, taking note of their development, which helps to identify what children can do and what they need to learn next. However, on occasion, this information is not used well enough to inform planning. n The childminder promotes a love of books to children. A wide range of books are available to the children to explore throughout the day. The childminder reads books to children and uses actions to enable them to understand the new vocabulary they learn, for instance 'swishy, swashy' when listening to 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. The childminder takes children to the local library, where
