This provision meets requirements

n The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of how young children learn. She explains in detail how she will provide activities based on individual children's needs and interests. Currently, the childminder provides before- and after-school care and has a range of age-appropriate resources for children to access independently. She speaks about how she provides children with small tasks to help them to gain a sense of responsibility. For example, at times, the childminder encourages children to help with preparing the teatime meal. n The childminder promotes a healthy lifestyle for children. For instance, she provides healthy and nutritious options for children's breakfasts and teas. The childminder encourages children to be physically active everyday by walking on the school run and accessing her garden, weather permitting. n The childminder talks about how she supports children's behaviour and

emotional development. She understands how to teach children to share, be respectful and kind to one another. n The childminder understands the importance of working in partnership with parents and other early years settings where after-school children attend. She is clear about her role in sharing information with parents and exchanging messages from school to keep parents up to date. Parents' comments gathered for the inspection demonstrate the childminder is highly valued by them. n Older after-school children enjoy the time they spend in the childminder's care. They comment, 'I like my childminder because she is really fun and it is never boring at her house' and 'I love my childminder because I feel like she is part of my family.' n The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibility to safeguard children. She knows the procedure to follow in the event of having any child protection concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder has a clear

p.2

This provision meets requirements

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
