The provision is good
Children excitedly greet their friends as they arrive at the childminder's home. The childminder provides children and parents with a warm welcome. She creates a stimulating, calm environment where children feel safe and secure. She has high expectations of children's behaviour. She encourages children to listen and follow instructions. She supports them to share and take turns. She reminds children to use good manners and to be kind to their friends. Children behave well and they are kind and helpful.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder plans an ambitious curriculum for all children that builds on what they already know and can do. She has a wealth of high-quality resources that match children's interests and extend their learning. She shares stories with repetition to develop children's vocabulary. The childminder supports children to focus and listen using props. She models how to count accurately, building children's early mathematical skills. Furthermore, she supports children's fine motor skills using a range of suitable tools, which helps to support children's early writing skills.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder provides exceptional support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). She has completed additional training to ensure children with SEND receive the support they need. She recognises delays in children's learning and development and makes referrals for additional support. She provides parents with advice and guidance and works towards targets set by other professionals. Parents value the love and support they and their children receive from the childminder. One parent describes how she is not only their child's childminder but also their teacher, nurse, guide and champion.

need to do better?
n The childminder encourages children to live healthy lifestyles. She provides children with toothbrushing packs when they join her provision to promote their oral health. High levels of hygiene in her home help reduce the spread of infection. She plans daily outdoor activities to promote children's physical and mental health and well-being. n Children's behaviour and attitudes to learning are good. Children focus on activities that interest them. Younger children enjoy the company of older children, who extend their play and learning. The childminder creates an environment that encourages children to focus and persevere. Toddlers negotiate steps and problem-solve how to come down them safely. The childminder encourages children to build their large-muscle skills. Children practise their ball control skills as they kick and throw balls with their friends. Children have races with their friends and scoot around the garden on balance

The childminder presents further challenge to children's physical skill development with trips to the park and activities in the countryside. n Since her last inspection, the childminder has completed extensive training to further improve the quality of her teaching. She has a good understanding of how to support children's communication and language skills. She shares information with parents on how to further develop children's speech using stories, songs and conversations. She completes regular assessments to monitor children's progress. However, children who speak English as an additional language are not always fully supported to develop the confidence and language skills they need for the next stage of their education. The childminder does not always encourage them to interact with their peers or model the key words they need to be able to express themselves verbally. n The childminder has built strong relationships with children and their parents.

need to do better?
Parents describe how the childminder's consistently dedicated attitude has made a massive impact on their children's development. They describe the childminder as nurturing, kind and caring, like a second mum to their children. They value the daily communication they receive from the childminder, saying that it provides them with reassurance, connection and insight into their child's day. Parents say that their children love attending. They say that the days children spend at the childminder's house are the highlight of their child's week. n The childminder runs a stay-and-play group where children socialise with larger groups of children. She supports new and existing childminders to develop and improve their practice. She seeks parents' views and adapts her provision in response to their comments. However, she does not identify focused areas of development in her own practice to raise already good outcomes for children to
