p.1
The provision is inadequate
Safeguarding requirements are not met. The childminder does not know who to report to if an allegation is made against her or a member of her household. This compromises children's safety. Despite this, the childminder knows what to do if she is concerned a child is being abused, including making referrals.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
The childminder does not plan and provide children with an ambitious broad curriculum. Although she makes a variety of resources easily accessible to children, she does not have a good understanding of how to support and extend children's learning. Consequently, children are not challenged and do not make good progress, particularly in their communication and language development. However, despite weaknesses in the prime areas of children's development, they develop some social and physical skills, for instance, during daily outings to a park with a playground.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
The childminder does not support and meet children's emotional needs or manage their behaviour effectively. For example, when children are crying and distressed, she frequently gives them food to help them calm down. As a result, children do not learn how to self-regulate their emotions and behaviour.
p.2
need to do better?
n There are weaknesses in the childminder's safeguarding knowledge. Additionally, the childminder does not support children's learning and development well enough. She relies heavily on children choosing and using resources independently and does not often join in their play. The childminder stays close to the children, making sure they are safe. However, her teaching practice is weak and she does not provide children with a challenging curriculum. Consequently, children do not make good progress in all areas of their development. n Children do not develop the skills they need for the future. The childminder does not support and build children's communication and language development effectively. Children who speak English as an additional language often play silently and do not develop and use a wide range of vocabulary. Often, the childminder does not give children space and time to communicate, or support

them to learn to listen and talk. n Children confidently choose and use the accessible resources. They are motivated to take part in occasional adult-led activities. For example, during the inspection, children attempted to catch soapy bubbles the childminder blew into the air and successfully joined small building blocks. However, the childminder does not successfully sustain children's interest during activities. Consequently, children do not develop concentration skills and their learning is not extended.
p.2
need to do better?
3 September 2024 n The childminder does not meet children's individual emotional and behavioural needs effectively. She does not adapt her approach when children do not cooperate and are distressed, for example, when they do not want to wash their hands, This leads to a sometimes noisy and chaotic environment. Additionally, on occasion children spend long periods of time sitting in their high chairs, rather than engaging in purposeful play and learning. This does not support children to behave well and develop positive attitudes to learning. n The childminder does not review the arrangements for food provision to ensure all children receive a well-balanced diet. For example, she does not review how much food she gives to the children and consider how to help them learn to eat healthy, age-appropriate portions. This means children spend long periods of their day eating. This does not support children's good health.
p.2
need to do better?
n Although the childminder has completed a relevant childcare qualification, she does not have the knowledge and skills she needs to provide good-quality provision for children. For example, she does not work effectively in partnership with parents to ensure children's individual care and learning needs are consistently met. Consequently, not all children are happy and settled. n Despite weaknesses in the childminder's practice, she supports children to develop some independence. For example, she encourages children to feed themselves and drink from their water bottles.
