p.1
The provision is good
The childminder is caring and places a strong emphasis on getting to know the children and their families extremely well when they first start. This process of offering extended settling-in sessions, along with the gathering of detailed information from families, helps to ensure children form secure attachments with the childminder. Babies demonstrate a strong sense of belonging in the setting, which in turn promotes their emotional well-being.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has developed an ambitious curriculum that is rich in experiences to support children's learning across all areas. She instils values of kindness and compassion in the service she provides to local families and the community. For example, children relish visits to the local shops, and to playgroups where they can meet and socialise with other children. They are eager to help with daily tasks and enjoy the praise they receive from the childminder.
p.2
The provision is good
Children beam with pride and are developing positive attitudes to learning. The childminder is a positive role model and embeds good manners and respect into the daily routines. She has high expectations for children's behaviour and learning. Children follow these expectations well and are beginning to understand the impact of their actions. Older children can clearly explain their feelings and display high levels of self-esteem. They are learning to form good relationships with their peers and work alongside each other in a friendly and considerate manner.

n The childminder builds on what children know and can do and provides activities to meet their needs. Children are eager to learn and enjoy spontaneous activities. For example, they persevere in their play to make train tracks and build bridges for the trains to go over. They take great pride in their creations and challenge each other to take part. n Children's use of mathematics is promoted well by the childminder. Children are confident to count the number of play foods they use to prepare ice-cream flavours for the childminder. The childminder uses this opportunity to introduce simple addition and subtraction as children work out how many ice creams they need to make for each person. Children show intense concentration as they self- serve their pretend ice creams and comment on their different sizes. Children's mathematical thinking skills are developing well. n The childminder provides the children with a language-rich environment. She

4 September 2024 what they already know. However, on occasion, she asks too many questions and does not allow time for children to develop their thinking skills and give a more detailed response. n The childminder encourages parents to bring in healthy, balanced foods and drinks for the children. Children benefit from consistent hygiene routines, such as handwashing before meals. However, the childminder does not always give children clear messages about making healthy choices, to support them to understand the importance of following a healthy diet. n The childminder is a positive role model and has high expectations for children's behaviour. She gently reminds children of her expectations when they need support. The childminder encourages children to share resources and wait for their turn. This contributes towards children's growing understanding of the expectations for their behaviour. n The childminder reflects on her own practice. She is committed to her own

professional development and completes regular training. The childminder shares good practice and gains new ideas from other childminders that she meets at organised groups. She uses her learning to continue to improve the quality of education that she provides. n Parent partnerships are strong. The childminder takes the time to provide personal and detailed feedback to parents about their child's learning and progress. She collaborates with parents by giving them a range of support and guidance. Parents describe the childminder as flexible, caring and professional. They notice their children growing in confidence and becoming more independent.
