The provision is good
The childminder creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere in her home. She is calm, gentle and very nurturing. These personal attributes create a relaxed and serene environment for children to flourish emotionally and developmentally. Children are confident, self-assured and happy in the childminder's care. They thrive in their emotional well-being as they are lavished with plenty of genuine affection, praise and encouragement. For instance, children enjoy soothing cuddles during story time. They listen to books read aloud and talk about the characters and illustrations. Children benefit from the childminder's reassuring interactions, which in turn extends their engagement in literacy and literature activities. Children are helpful and cooperative. They help to tidy away toys after games and look after their environment, such as clearing and cleaning tables before lunchtime. Older children help younger ones and friendships flourish.
p.2
The provision is good
Children spend time leading their own play, choosing toys independently and following their ideas and interests. The childminder understands her role to guide and support learning during children's self-directed play. She involves herself in games and talks to children continuously. This active adult participation helps to extend children's learning. For instance, when children show an interest in aeroplanes, the childminder helps them to make paper aeroplanes. Children follow the childminder's complex instructions as they make intricate and precise folds. They persevere and repeatedly try until they succeed, eventually cheering when they create an impressive toy plane. Children demonstrate concentration, resilience and fine motor skills during this challenging task. The childminder is a supportive role model and her extremely high expectations and effective teaching successfully help to extend children's skills and knowledge. Overall, children are happy, safe and

The childminder is passionate about working with early years children and offers consistently good care for the families she supports. She intends to continue her journey of training and professional development to further improve her knowledge and skills. n The childminder plans a well-balanced curriculum and offers children a range of activities, both child-directed and adult-led. Play and exploration are the foundations to children's learning. Children enjoy being active, reading, playing imaginatively and being creative. They benefit from a fun and varied range of

They enjoy using public transport and visiting local museums, parks and libraries. Children mix with people from different backgrounds when out in the community. However, the programme of learning does not extend children's knowledge about different cultures, religions and festivals to help them to develop a deeper awareness and tolerance for differences between themselves and others. n Children independently follow personal hygiene routines. They wash their hands with soap before mealtimes to minimise the risk of germs while eating. Children's good health is well promoted through established hygiene and self- care routines. n Children's safety and welfare are given high priority. The childminder routinely and rigorously checks her home every day to ensure it is safe and secure for

children to play and learn. These robust risk assessments are extended to trips and outings to promote children's welfare continuously. n Partnerships with parents are good. Parents comment, 'My child has come on leaps and bounds since starting and is continuing to develop and exceed all milestones' and 'I am extremely pleased with the childminder's work and have recommended her services to various people and would continue to do so.' These positive comments illustrate the sound relationships shared with home. A joined-up approach to care and learning is achieved though these good partnerships. n Children benefit from a language-rich environment. The childminder talks to children continuously, asking interesting and thought-provoking questions. Two- way conversations help to satisfy children's inquisitiveness and extend their language skills. Children of all ages are confident communicators.
