p.1
Findings from the inspection
We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children continue to receive a high quality of care from staff who prioritise the children’s safety and well-being.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
A recent priority for managers has been to help the children and staff come to terms with the passing away of a child who attended for short breaks. Staff feel well supported by managers and colleagues. This has enabled them to continue to provide sensitive support to children.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Managers know the children well and ensure that staff understand and implement children’s care and support plans. A new electronic record-keeping system has been introduced. As a result, staff have easy access to children’s plans and are aware of any updates. Managers work closely with children’s parents and external professionals to ensure that there is a collaborative approach to care planning.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The systems for administering and recording medication promote safe practice. Managers investigate all medication errors. If shortfalls in practice are identified, learning is used effectively to reduce the risk of a similar incident happening again.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staffing levels are high and are based on risk assessments of children’s individual needs. This ensures that there are sufficient staff on duty, both during the day and at night, to ensure that children’s safety and well-being are promoted.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff are familiar with each child’s methods of communication and enable children to make as many decisions as possible about the way they are looked after.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Managers and staff proactively advocate for children and challenge decisions made by other professionals when they believe that those decisions are not made with children’s best interests in mind.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
One of the four requirements made at the last inspection has been met. The staff team’s understanding of their roles and responsibilities in relation to protecting children has improved. The remaining three requirements made at the last full inspection have not been reviewed as part of this assurance inspection and are restated.
