Summary of outcome
All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage', which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2.
p.1
Summary of outcome
If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 9 February 2024 we received concerns that the provider may not have been meeting some of those requirements. The instigator of the concerns was also worried that the nursery may not be registered.
p.1
Summary of outcome
We carried out some background work and established that the provider was in the process of transferring their registration from a Childminding Agency (CMA) to another CMA.
p.1
Summary of outcome
We took immediate steps to ensure that the nursery was correctly registered with Ofsted while their registration with the new CMA was completed.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 21 February 2024 the provider notified us that a child had been injured on the premises. The nature of the injuries did not meet the threshold for notifying other agencies. However, the provider acknowledged that the injuries were significant and that other agencies may need to be involved. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the early years foundation stage welfare requirements to notify Ofsted of any significant event.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 22 February 2024 we received concerns that the report of the injuries did not fully reflect the seriousness of the injuries sustained and that a similar incident could potentially happen again.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 19 March 2024, we carried out unannounced visits to both of the providers nurseries. We viewed the area where the injuries had occurred, we viewed all areas of concern raised by the previous complainant. We spoke to staff and managers. We also read various documents required for the safe management of the provision, such as accident/incident records and paediatric first aid certificates. We found that the two nurseries operate mostly in the outdoors. We found that an incident had occurred, in the outdoor sleep area, resulting in visible injuries to a child's face.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The provider acknowledged the seriousness of the incident. They made sure that all staff attended extra training relevant to the incident. They also reflected deeply on whether they could have prevented the incident and the situation that led up to the incident. They also installed extra safety precautions to the outdoor sleep area.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The provider will be able to tell parents more about this. We were satisfied that the action taken by the provider was sufficient to minimise the likelihood of this happening again. The provider remains registered.
p.2
Publication of complaints
We publish details of complaints made against childminders, home childcarers and childcare providers where we or the provider have taken action in order to meet legal requirements.
