p.1
The provision is good
The childminder creates a welcoming home. She is extremely passionate and dedicated to the children she cares for. The childminder works in harmony with parents. She gathers a range of information during settling-in sessions to help her plan for the children's learning from the outset. Children are extremely happy and confident in the childminder's care. For example, they eagerly greet visitors and introduce themselves. Children demonstrate they feel safe and secure in the childminder's home.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has created a curriculum that supports what children already know and can do and places communication and language development as a high priority. Children learn vocabulary in meaningful ways. For example, the childminder introduces new positional language as children put pieces of a marble run together. She includes learning experiences to broaden her curriculum. For instance, children learn how to grow and care for different fruits and vegetables they have planted in the garden. This helps children learn about the wider world around them.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has high expectations of children's behaviour. She is a good role model, who treats children in a respectful manner. This helps children feel valued. As such, children behave very well and demonstrate a positive attitude to their learning.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder has good knowledge and understanding of children's development and what they need to learn next. She sets up the environment with carefully selected resources, which support her overall curriculum intent. For example, the childminder shows children how to use funnels to help them to successfully pour water from one container to another. This helps children to develop their hand-eye coordination and concentration skills. However, at times, she does not consistently consider children's interests in their self-chosen play to extend on their learning even further. Nevertheless, children make good progress. n Mathematics is woven throughout the activities of the day. The childminder skilfully role models the use of numbers in children's play. Older children confidently learn about numeral and quantity. For example, as children play with the toy car garage, they count how many cars there are on the different ramps.
p.2

They enjoy outings to groups in the community, which helps to build on their social skills. n Children's literacy skills are supported well. The childminder weaves nursey rhymes into children's play. Children have easy access to a wide range of books. The childminder supports children's early writing skills. For instance, children participate in mark-making activities, such as holding pens to draw a marble run. n The childminder ensures that children know about the benefits of healthy eating. She provides parents with ideas for healthy packed lunches. The children understand about germs as they talk about washing their hands before food and after using the toilet. The childminder teaches children how to stay safe in the sun. Children know they must put sun cream and sun hats on before going into

the sunshine. n Children's behaviour is very good. The childminder recognises children's individuality and provides personalised care and education. As such, all children demonstrate a positive attitude to learning. n Partnership with parents is excellent. The childminder regularly communicates through various methods of electronic contact. This helps to keep parents informed about their children's day. Parents speak fondly of the childminder and comment how much their children have developed in her care. n The childminder is reflective and regularly evaluates her setting. She has completed all mandatory training and accesses online training and webinars to continually improve her professional development. For instance, the childminder completed training in supporting children's speech and language.
