p.1
Information about this children's home
The home registered with Ofsted in January 2023. The registered manager post has been vacant since January 2024.
p.1
Information about this children's home
There were no children living at the home, at the time of this inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 4 June and 5 June 2024. Due to the serious and widespread safeguarding failures and poor leadership and management of the home, Ofsted issued a notice suspending the registration of the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The suspension notice had immediate effect from 6 June 2024 to 28 August 2024.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was carried out to monitor the providers compliance with the suspension notice and the action taken to address the shortfalls identified at the full inspection. The provider has complied with the suspension notice and no children have moved into the home. The inspector found that the provider has not taken sufficient action to manage and reduce the risk of harm to children. Therefore, the suspension notice remains in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A new manager has been appointed who has relevant experience and knowledge of working with children in residential care and is already familiar with the home and the organisation. The leadership and management team have started working Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2716515 2 alongside an external organisation to begin addressing the shortfalls identified. This is in its infinite stages.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received training in safeguarding practices, along with the leadership and management team receiving training in safer recruitment and the role of the responsible individual. This is to ensure that the team is sufficiently skilled and confident to support children and keep them safe.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have an action plan to address the shortfalls. A full redecoration and refurbishment of the home is in progress, along with the garden having any hazards removed. Due to the current redecoration and refurbishment, the home is not suitable for children to move in.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have reviewed the recruitment, induction, and monitoring systems to ensure that staff understand their roles and responsibilities. However, no monitoring of the service has been carried out since the full inspection. Recruitment is ongoing to establish a full management and staff team.
p.2
This monitoring visit
It is unclear which staff members have received supervision since the last inspection due to them working across the organisation. There has been no thorough oversight from the management team. One supervision record reviewed did not include reflection of the staff members practice in respect of the serious concerns that led to the suspension of the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
One team meeting took place shortly after the last inspection. The responsible individual took accountability for the shortfalls and shared safeguarding practices and procedures that staff must follow, however not all staff were present at the meeting. It remains unclear if all staff members have read the notes of the meeting and understand the serious concerns.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have a plan to bring the staff team together once the home’s renovation and redecoration are complete. This will allow the manager to set expectations of staff practice and reiterate policy and procedures.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Previous allegations made about inappropriate staff practice have now been resolved. However, lessons learned and actions set have not been addressed with all staff members.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements raised at the full inspection were considered at this monitoring visit, however all except one requirement remain in place.
