p.1

This provision does not meet requirements

n Although the childminder demonstrates a sound knowledge of safeguarding, she does not make sure that she meets all of the requirements of her registration. On the day of inspection, she was only caring for children before and after school. However, during this time, the childminder was inside her home and left children unsupervised in the driveway, which leads onto a busy road. In addition, she left the gate to the driveway open. The childminder did not take all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised persons from gaining access to the driveway or prevent children from accessing the road. This does not assure children's safety and welfare. n The childminder demonstrates a secure knowledge of how to develop children's understanding of the world around them, their physical development and social and language skills. She describes how she takes steps to assess children's development and provide experiences to help close any gaps in their learning.

This provision does not meet requirements

However, the childminder is unable to provide evidence that she has completed a short, written summary of progress for children aged between two and three years and that this was shared with parents as required. n The childminder describes the suitable steps she would take to manage children's behaviour and support them in learning, to regulate their own feelings and behaviour. However, as part of her risk assessment process, she does not take into account children's ability to follow instructions that help them keep safe. For example, when getting ready to leave the house, the childminder fails to recognise that children have not understood that they should not go onto her driveway without her. n The childminder cannot provide evidence to show that she has followed her complaint procedures and supplied a written response within 28 days, as required. The childminder does not maintain records appropriately. She has

failed to ensure that access to sensitive data is only given to those who have a right to see it. Additionally, she has not retained records relating to a child who has recently left her setting and has not considered her responsibilities to retain this information for a reasonable period of time. n The childminder explains she is keen to improve her knowledge and describes a broad programme of training opportunities that she regularly attends. Nevertheless, her knowledge and practice remain weak in some areas, such as her implementation of risk assessments, her supervision of children and her management of the required documentation. The childminder is not able to maintain all the improvements that she makes to meet children's needs and keep them safe at all times.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

18 June 2024 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.

n The inspector discussed any continued impact of the pandemic with the childminder and has taken that into account in their evaluation of the setting. n We carried out this inspection as a result of a risk assessment, following information we received about the provider. n Although there were no children in the early years age range present during the normal school day at the time of this inspection, there were children present who attended solely before and after the school day for a short period of time. n The inspector viewed the provision and discussed the safety and suitability of the premises. n The childminder and the inspector discussed how the childminder organises their early years provision, including the aims and rationale for their curriculum. n The childminder spoke to the inspector about children's learning and development, with a particular focus on communication and language. n The childminder provided the inspector with a sample of key documentation on
