The provision is good
The childminder is a very positive role model. She sensitively guides children to make sense of their world and understand their place within the local community. The childminder values and promotes diversity and community, which are embedded in her curriculum. For example, the childminder plans frequent trips to the local area and visits to the fire station. The childminder understands the importance of finding out other languages children also speak. For example, she finds out key words they speak and hear at home to value their family backgrounds. The childminder supports children's positive behaviour, such as by consistently promoting good manners and encouraging children to tidy toys. Children demonstrate very positive behaviour and show that they feel emotionally secure and safe. For example, they confidently talk about what they enjoy, such as trips to the local market to buy plantain.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder focuses her curriculum on children's interests to meet their individual needs. She consistently holds meaningful conversations and enthusiastically joins children in their imaginary play. This helps to consistently enhance children's communication and language skills well. Children are confident communicators, demonstrating this by eagerly talking to the childminder about their experiences. For example, they point to wooden trains and eagerly tell the childminder, 'this is you and this is me' and 'this is the emergency window'.

need to do better?
n The childminder provides good-quality inclusive care and education to all children. The childminder understands the importance of continuous professional development and occasionally updates her knowledge. However, she recognises that even more can be done to enhance her already good teaching skills and raise outcomes for children to a higher level. n Overall, the childminder implements a well-planned curriculum to help to promote children's learning in all areas of learning and development. However, at times, the childminder does not always offer more challenge to children as they play to help them make even better progress. The childminder understands the importance of swiftly identifying gaps in children's learning so that they can receive targeted support. The childminder regularly shares children's achievements with parents for a consistent approach. n The childminder understands the importance of promoting children's emotional

security and sense of self. For example, she provides small mirrors to help to support children's self-awareness and understanding of what makes them unique. Children gaze into a mirror and say 'hello'. The childminder builds very positive relationships with children. She regularly joins them in their play and frequently gives them a cuddle.

need to do better?
2 July 2024 n The childminder provides many opportunities to support children's mathematical and early writing skills. For example, she helps children to correctly hold pencils as they write a list for a shopping trip to the market, helping them to write for a purpose. The childminder supports children to successfully put together a train track. She asks children to 'add' and 'take away' train tracks to enhance their problem-solving skills. n Children's good health and healthy eating are of high importance and supported very well. For example, the childminder provides home-cooked healthy and nutritional meals every day, such as pumpkin rice and fish. The childminder's well-established garden provides an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables to help to promote healthy choices.
