p.1

The provision is outstanding

The childminder provides an exceptionally warm and welcoming childcare service for all children. She plans a tremendously exciting and stimulating learning environment that consistently meets children's individual learning needs. Children flourish and thrive in her care. Throughout the childminder's interactions with children, she constantly seeks to extend their knowledge. She has high expectations for children's behaviour. Children confidently talk about new knowledge learned and demonstrate new skills. For example, children keenly use new vocabulary as they make connections between bees and honey, and the sunflowers they grow in pots to take home. Children correctly name insects, such as 'caterpillar' and 'woodlice', and eagerly talk about the life cycle of a butterfly.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

The childminder constantly plays alongside children. They thoroughly enjoy her company, and are remarkably happy. Children show that they are emotionally secure and feel safe in the childminder's care. The childminder provides many opportunities for children to investigate and solve problems. For example, she encourages children to work out how to push and pull a lever to squirt water. The childminder encourages children to do things for themselves and persevere, to help develop their confidence and independence skills. Children demonstrate this as they help each other to put on their shoes before they go outdoors. They confidently explain to quieter children how to move the straps before they can 'slip on' their shoes.

n The childminder's carefully planned curriculum focuses on what children know and can do. She knows each child remarkably well and always plans opportunities that are based on their individual needs and children's views. This helps them to focus on their learning and become deeply engaged, motivated and eager learners. The childminder consistently promotes children's self-esteem and confidence. n Children are immersed in their play and learning. They play imaginatively, such as role playing shops and buying pretend fruit. They say, 'Can I have some coins?' Children grow in confidence and have a positive attitude to early mathematics. They count play money and confidently count beyond 10 as they play hide and seek. Children quickly develop social skills, and they are very confident communicators. They make rapid progress in their learning and development. n The childminder understands the importance of early reading. She provides

She effectively encourages quieter children to join in, to help ensure that all children are included. The childminder provides children with rich experiences to help promote their home languages, celebrations, and beliefs. For example, she displays key words in other languages that children also speak, which helps to value the languages they speak at home. n Children concentrate as they make good attempts to use chopsticks, and ask an online application to play 'Chinese New Year music'. They listen to nursery rhymes in other languages, and the childminder teaches children to say 'hello' in French. The childminder is a very positive role model. She praises children for their achievements and helps to promote their uniqueness. n Children who require extra support with their learning and development receive

excellent support. The childminder accurately assesses children's development and swiftly identifies gaps in their learning. She works extremely well with other professionals involved in children's care and learning. This ensures that all children receive the support they need to help them make the best possible progress. n The childminder's engagement with parents and other professionals is exceptional. The childminder understands the importance of home learning so that children can consolidate what they have learned. For example, she provides book bags for each child so that they can take a book home to share with parents. Furthermore, she works effectively with parents when supporting children who are toilet training. The childminder consistently seeks and values parents' views to help provide a consistent approach in meeting children's care and learning needs.
