p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
At the time of inspection, one child had recently moved into the home. The child was known to staff, as they had lived in one of the providers other homes. Education, activity and health plans were being put in place at the time of the inspection.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
The child moved into the home under well-planned arrangements, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition. The staff prepared for the child's arrival, coordinating with relevant agencies to address all aspects of the child's needs. This thorough planning ensured a welcoming environment where the child could feel safe and secure from the outset.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
The child’s views are important to staff. The child is consulted on changes to the home and has helped choose how their bedroom is decorated. Staff encourage the child to plan activities for their evenings and weekends. This enables the child to pursue their own interests and try new things.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
Staff have a proactive approach and commitment to providing personalised care for the child. They understand how to support the child to settle into their new home. The child is given a staff rota so they know who will be caring for them. Knowing who will collect them from school and when they go to bed, helps the child to feel secure. This means the child is building trusting consistent relationships with staff.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
The consistent support, clear boundaries, and the application of the providers therapeutic approach have contributed to some improvements in the child’s behaviour and emotional well-being. The child is starting to engage more positively with staff with an increased ability to express their feelings constructively. This progress indicates that the strategies put in place by the staff are effective and that the child is benefiting from the care and support provided.
p.2
How well children and young people are helped and protected: good
The manager and staff have clear safeguarding knowledge. When significant incidents occur, detailed incident reports provide a clear account of events, actions taken, and outcomes. This thorough approach ensures that incidents are properly addressed and staff can prevent further incidents.
p.2
How well children and young people are helped and protected: good
The trained staff team are aware of the procedures to follow if the child goes missing from the home. They are vigilant in monitoring the child's whereabouts to prevent such incidents. In the event the child does go missing, staff would promptly initiate the response plan. This ensures a swift and effective response, prioritising the child's safety and well-being. Inspection report for children's home: 2750122 3 Risk assessments are comprehensive and address potential and actual risks faced by the child. Staff understand specific risks relating to the child. This knowledge allows them to put in place strategies to manage risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of the child.
p.2
How well children and young people are helped and protected: good
Safe recruitment processes are used to ensure that suitable staff are employed in the home. The manager oversees the careful recruitment of staff. This includes necessary background checks and taking up references. This reduces the risk of children being cared for by people who are not able to keep them safe.
p.3
The effectiveness of leaders and managers: good
The manager is suitably experienced and qualified for the role. She has high aspirations to provide the child with high-quality care. The manager leads a committed, cohesive and enthusiastic staff team. The manager has a nurturing approach to supporting the staff. This contributes to a family orientated atmosphere in the home.
p.3
The effectiveness of leaders and managers: good
Leaders and managers have clear understanding of their responsibilities. The manager has focused on staff training and ensuring the home is safe and a welcoming environment. This means that the staff were fully prepared for the arrival of the child and have decorated the home to a high standard.
p.3
The effectiveness of leaders and managers: good
The manager ensures that staff are supported to complete any required training. Training tailored to the needs of the child, ensure that staff have the skills to provide effective care. The manager has plans for staff to build on their development and progression. Staff who are new to the home, have good inductions which are overseen by the manager. New staff have a clear programme of training.
p.3
The effectiveness of leaders and managers: good
Staff say they feel well supported by leaders and managers. Team meetings show that staff reflect on their practice and the needs of children. Staff benefit from regular supervision, covering a broad agenda including safeguarding scenarios. Supervision sessions are reflective, offer staff support and guidance and consider the needs and progress of children.
p.3
The effectiveness of leaders and managers: good
Feedback from other professionals is positive. One social worker said that although it was early days for their child, staff had supported the child to make progress and had ensured boundaries to keep them safe.
