The childminder creates a nurturing environment that helps children feel confident and happy. On arrival, children self-register and immerse themselves in their favourite play activities. The newest children settle quickly and show that they feel safe and secure. They establish positive relationships with the childminder.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has high expectations for children. She provides a broad curriculum that includes lots of opportunities to learn about the natural world and special days that are celebrated in wider society. Children have opportunities to visit the nearby woodland area to feed the ducks. She encourages children to be independent and to do things for themselves. For instance, children display good table manners, remain seated during mealtimes and tuck their chairs away afterwards. The childminder humorously reads stories to children. This captivates their attention. Children eagerly guess what might happen next. They enthusiastically sing action songs during circle times.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder encourages children to be polite and kind to others. Children behave well and develop a good range of skills to help them prepare for starting nursery or school. For example, they understand the need to help tidy up the toys after playing.
