The acting manager is not currently registered with Ofsted.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
There was one child living at the home at the time of this monitoring visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 28 and 29 May 2024. Following the inspection, several statutory requirements were set, and two compliance notices were issued in relation to regulation 12, the protection of children standard and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted has also issued a restriction of accommodation notice to ensure that no further children are admitted, given the current concerns for this home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was carried out to judge whether the actions set following the inadequate judgement in relation to the protection of children have been met. The compliance notice has not been met in its entirety. Therefore, this has been restated.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff are aware of the importance of ensuring that children’s bedrooms are maintained to a good standard. Managers and staff have ensured that the physical environment of the child’s bedroom is now a hygienic environment to sleep in or spend time in. This supports children to feel valued and helps them learn important life lessons in relation to keeping their living space clean and hygienic. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2659026 2 Leaders and managers arranged an emergency team meeting, which supported staff to understand how to respond to children’s concerns. There are plans in place for staff to undertake additional training. This will support staff to recognise when children require additional support and respond in a way that helps the child.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leader and managers did not understand the requirement of sharing information with safeguarding agencies, such as the local authority designated officer. As a result, this is yet to be embedded in practice. However, leaders and managers did ensure that information was shared during the inspection.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Medication records for one child were difficult to read. Leaders and managers did not ensure that staff are aware of when to administer medication to children. The manager has identified that this is a potential risk and is in the process of changing the way staff record when medication is administered. However, this is not yet embedded in practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers understand the areas that require improvement. They are enthusiastic and committed to improving the experiences and care of children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
This was a focused visit and so the requirements made at the previous inspection were not reviewed. Therefore, these have been carried forward to the next inspection. One additional requirement has been made because a further breach in regulation was identified. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2659026 3
