This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out a monitoring visit following concerns raised regarding the provider’s management of complaints relating to staff practice, and whether information about serious incidents was shared with Ofsted in line with regulations. During the visit, the inspector visited the provider’s office. The inspector spoke to five staff members, the registered service manager and the nominated individual.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers and staff are aware of and follow the provider’s internal safeguarding policies and procedures. Incidents have been appropriately responded to. Children’s risk assessments contain information which guides staff on how best to support children and help them to be safe.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff complete safeguarding training during their induction, and refresher sessions are scheduled regularly. However, some staff are not fully aware of external safeguarding reporting procedures when they have concerns about a child’s safety or welfare. This means that staff practice may not always be consistent and this potentially places children at risk of harm. Inspection report for supported accommodation provider – monitoring visit: Moving Up Care South 2 Leaders appropriately respond to concerns and complaints. They take action to ensure that children are safeguarded while investigations take place. They share information and work with other professionals to ensure that investigations are comprehensive, timely and transparent.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The current system for reporting incidents does not allow for easy analysis of information, for example numbers or types of incidents. The registered service manager does not clearly document his reviews of incidents. This means that the registered service manager oversight is limited and opportunities for ‘lessons learned’ are reduced.
