Summary of outcome
All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage' (EYFS), which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
p.1
Summary of outcome
Between 7 Mar 2024 and 30 April 2024, we received concerns that this provider was not meeting some of these requirements. It was alleged that staff shortages meant that adult- child ratios were not met, and that children's safety was compromised. We were also told that a member of staff may have behaved in a way that could have harmed a child and that the allegation was not properly investigated by the provider.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 11 December 2023 the provider notified us of a child suffering a broken arm in the soft play area. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the early years foundation stage welfare requirements to notify Ofsted of any serious accident or injury to any child while in their care. However, we found that they had failed to notify the child protection agencies via the Local authority designated officer (LADO) about the serious injury to a child while in their care. This is a breach of requirements. However, we were satisfied with measures that the provider had put in place to make sure this could not happen again.
p.1
Summary of outcome
We spoke to the local safeguarding authority and carried out an unannounced visit. We found that adult-child ratios were met and children were happy and settled. We found that the provider was handling an allegation that had been made against a member of staff. The provider had failed to follow local safeguarding partnership's procedures; they had not notified the Local authority designated officer (LADO) immediately of any allegations against adults who work with children.
p.1
Summary of outcome
Discussions also revealed that that the supervision arrangements for adults working with children were not always effective in identifying solutions to address issues as they arise, or identifying when their personal effectiveness could be improved.
p.1
Summary of outcome
We issued a notice to improve. This is a notice that asks the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out.
p.1
Summary of outcome
Actions needed by 24 May 2024. n Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures which are in line with the guidance and procedures of the relevant Local Safeguarding Partnership are followed fully without delay. In this case, this refers to notifying the Local authority designated officer immediately of any allegations against adults who work with children.
p.1
Summary of outcome
n Ensure that local child protection agencies are notified of any serious accident or injury to any child while in their care, and act on any advice from those agencies.
p.2
Summary of outcome
n Ensure that supervision provides opportunities for staff to identify solutions to address issues as they arise and to receive coaching to improve their personal effectiveness.
p.2
Summary of outcome
The provider responded within required timescales to explain what they had done to meet the actions. The LADO confirmed the provider had been working with them appropriately. We carried out a further unannounced visit to check successful completion of the actions. We were satisfied with the action taken by the provider to ensure that requirements were met. The provider remains registered with Ofsted.
p.2
