p.1
The provision is good
The childminder provides a stimulating and nurturing environment. Children form close relationships with this caring childminder. They show they are secure and feel safe as they seek out the childminder for comfort. For instance, when they become tired, children readily snuggle into the childminder's lap and settle well.
p.2
The provision is good
Overall, the childminder's curriculum is designed to ensure that children have many opportunities to practise skills, which builds on what they already know and can do. For example, she supports children's independence effectively, in readiness for the next stages in their learning. Children understand the routines of the day and happily develop their independence skills. They actively help tidy away toys and help in preparing the table for snack.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder models good manners for children to learn. For example, she uses 'please' and 'thank you' appropriately. Children display good behaviour. They listen and follow instructions. The childminder gives plenty of encouragement and praise for children's attempts at doing different tasks. Children develop their physical skills as they explore play dough. The childminder supports children to keep trying when they find using cutters challenging. Children smile and clap as they achieve the task independently. Children are motivated and develop good levels of self-esteem.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and helps them to make good progress. She regularly considers what children know and can do. She uses this information to plan future activities and helps children to make good progress in all areas of learning. For example, she plans activities to build on children's social skills and models taking turns with the children when engaged in a drawing activity. n The childminder supports children to gain good speaking and listening skills. She uses opportunities to question and encourage children to share their thoughts. For instance, she uses questions to encourage children to talk about their ideas in the role-play kitchen. However, at times, in her enthusiasm, the childminder does not consistently give children enough time to think and respond to the questions being asked. This does not fully allow children to develop their understanding of thoughts and questions.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder promotes children's good health effectively. For example, children access their beakers of water freely during the day to ensure that they stay well hydrated, and they learn to wash their hands before meals. The childminder ensures that food from home is healthy and balanced, through sharing information with parents. n The childminder uses some good ways to communicate with parents and builds

need to do better?
3 May 2024 a positive relationship with them. For instance, at the end of each day, she tells them what their children have enjoyed learning. However, she does not yet use more effective ways to share detailed information and strengthen the link between learning at her setting and learning at home. n The childminder ensures that children are kept safe from harm. She completes regular risk assessments to make sure that her premises are safe. Children have opportunities to learn how to keep themselves safe. The childminder teaches children about road safety and how to keep themselves safe from pets when on outings. n The childminder supports children to gain a good understanding of mathematics as they play. She models the names of colours and counts as they build with coloured blocks. This supports children to develop skills to support their future learning as they join in with the childminder's counting.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder recognises the importance of her professional development and seeks new training to make positive changes that benefit children. For example, she has attended training on safeguarding and focused training on child development to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. n Children enjoy many activities in the local area. For instance, they go to toddler groups and visit the library. The childminder recognises the importance of providing children with experiences to develop their physical skills. She ensures that children have daily access to parks and outdoor spaces to support their progress.
