Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 21 February 2024, we received concerns that the provider was not meeting some of these requirements.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 2 May 2024, we carried out a regulatory visit. We found the provider was not meeting some of the requirements. We issued actions for the provider to take. Actions needed by 17 May 2024:

p.1

Summary of outcome

n ensure you take all reasonable steps to ensure that children in your care are not exposed to risks and demonstrate how you are managing risks in relation to children's access to stairs from the first floor, the kitchen area, the bathroom and the front playroom and resources in the playroom

p.1

Summary of outcome

n ensure you have sufficient resources to provide activities and experiences that enable children to learn and develop, as set out under each of the seven areas of learning.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We also suspended the provider's registration on 2 May 2024 because we believe the provider is operating child care for which they are not registered and from a premises for which they are not registered to provide childcare. The provider has a right to appeal against a suspension. The provider may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place and may commit an offence if they do so.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 21 May 2024 we carried out another regulatory visit. We found that the provider has made the necessary repairs in the bathroom and kitchen areas, and to resources in the front playroom. The provider has also installed a safety gate at the top of the stairs. We also found however, some new possible hazards, which does not indicate that the risk assessment process is effective.

p.1

Summary of outcome

In addition, the provider does not demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of how to provide a welcoming environment and provide activities and experiences that enable children to learn and develop across each of the seven areas of learning. We have issued another action for the provider to take. Action needed by 31 May 2024:

p.1

Summary of outcome

n increase your knowledge and understanding of how to provide a welcoming environment and provide activities and experiences that enable children to learn and develop across each of the seven areas of learning.

p.2

Summary of outcome

We have also served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the action below within the timescale set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this. Action needed by 31 May 2024:

p.2

Summary of outcome

n ensure your risk assessment process is effective. Take all reasonable steps to ensure that children in your care are not exposed to risks and demonstrate how you are managing risks in relation to ensuring that the cooker is in good working order and is safe to use, also that the new wooden posts at the top of the stairs do not pose a hazard to children and ensure that the high chair is clean.

p.2

Summary of outcome

On 4 June 2024 we carried out a regulatory visit. We found that the provider had increased their knowledge and understanding of how to provide a welcoming environment, and has also provided more activities and experiences to support children to learn and develop across each of the seven areas of learning.

p.2

Summary of outcome

The provider has also ensured their risk assessment process is effective. They have had the cooker checked to ensure it is in good working order and is safe to use. The wooden posts at the top of the stairs have been sanded and painted so no longer pose hazard to children. The high chair is now in a hygienic condition.

p.2

Summary of outcome

We are satisfied with the action the provider has taken. On 5 June 2024 we lifted the suspension because the provider is now living at the premises which is registered for the provision of childminding only.
