Cambian Childcare Limited
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children's home
This home is operated by a large national provider. It is registered to provide care for up to two children with social and emotional needs.
p.1
Information about this children's home
The home was closed in 2021 following a serious and significant safeguarding concern. Ofsted imposed a condition on the home, whereby the provider would have to give Ofsted three months’ notice of their intention to reopen the home.
p.1
Information about this children's home
The registered manager and responsible individual were present throughout this visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was carried out following the provider giving Ofsted notice of their intention to reopen the home. The purpose of the visit was to assess whether the home was safe to open and to demonstrate whether arrangements were in place to ensure that children would be provided with safe care.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has recently resigned, and a new manager has been appointed. A new staff team has been recruited, and most of the staff are suitably qualified and experienced. The staff team is currently working in other homes that are owned by the provider. Although staff training records were requested prior to this visit, they were not available. This means that the assessment of staff skills and knowledge relating to the specific needs of children who may come to live at the home could not be undertaken.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Health and safety checks of the home had not been completed, and some essential maintenance has only recently been started. Some necessary health and safety information, such as electrical safety and fire safety, was not readily available. This Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: SC457621 2 means that the safety of the home environment could not be adequately assessed. Additional information has been requested from the provider.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has not provided sufficient oversight in preparing the home to reopen, and key information previously requested was not available. This does not provide Ofsted with assurance that children would be effectively safeguarded, due to the lack of effective scrutiny and oversight of the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has been asked to provide additional information and some of this has been received.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirement from the previous inspection has not been monitored during this visit.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Ofsted will continue to monitor the home and its suitability to reopen in July 2024 in line with compliance processes.
