Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1155775 1 Cambian Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is run by a large private organisation. It is registered to provide care for one child who may have social and emotional difficulties and/or learning disabilities.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager in post has applied to register with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 25 May 2021, a full inspection was carried out at the home, and it was judged good for overall effectiveness. When the child moved out of the home on 30 May 2022, the provider decided to close the home. On 3 February 2023, a condition was imposed which required the provider to inform Ofsted three months before it intends to have a child move into the home. This was due to there not being a registered manager in post since 2020 or sufficient staff to safely care for children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit took place to ensure that the provider is now ready for a child to move into the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has now appointed a new manager, who is experienced and is currently a registered manager at another home in the company. She has applied to be registered for both homes.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has recruited a sufficient staff team to safely support a child when they move into the home. There is now an experienced deputy manager in post, who will support the manager in overseeing the day-to-day running of the home. Robust recruitment checks have been carried out in line with safer recruitment procedures. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1155775 2 There is a comprehensive training programme in place and a detailed induction for the new staff. The manager has ensured that staff are attending specific training that meets the needs of children identified in the statement of purpose. This will ensure that staff have the appropriate knowledge and skills to meet the child’s needs when they move into the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has recently reviewed and updated the home’s statement of purpose. She has developed a robust procedure, which includes liaising with the company’s therapist before any child moves in, to ensure that staff have the skills and knowledge to meet their needs.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager is child centred, committed and has high expectations of providing good-quality childcare. The home environment has been improved; a new bathroom has been fitted and the home has been redecorated. As a result, the home feels warm and welcoming.
p.2
This monitoring visit
A case review was held on 9 April 2024. It was deemed that sufficient action has been taken for children to move into the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
During the visit, the requirement under Regulation 27 was deemed to be met. Other requirements and recommendations identified at the full inspection were not considered as part of this visit and will be reviewed at the next inspection.
