p.1
Findings from the inspection
We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
No children are currently living at the home. One child moved out of the home in January 2024. Since then, no children have moved into the home. The child who previously lived at the home was cared for by a stable and consistent staff team. The child had good relationships with the staff team. They helped the child to access the local community to carry out independent living tasks such as shopping to develop their confidence.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The child was supported to manage their feelings safely. Managers and staff put in place interventions to support the child’s emotional health. When the child did not want to engage, staff took advice from an in-house therapist.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The child had been out of education for a significant period. Managers and staff listened to the child when they discussed their interest in taking specific courses. Arrangements were put in place to support the child to attend open days at local education provisions. However, at the time of the child leaving, there was no structured education timetable in place. Managers and staff had raised with other professionals the lack of progress in securing an education placement for the child.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Detailed risk assessments are used by the staff team. They set out the areas of concern, triggers and clear actions for staff to take to manage behaviour and incidents.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
At the time of the previous inspection, there was no manager at the home. However, an acting manager has been in place since July 2023. The acting manager has submitted an application to be registered with Ofsted.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The acting manager and responsible individual have considered the shortfalls identified at the last inspection. They have put in place a detailed workforce development plan that sets out clear actions to meet the requirements and recommendations set at the last inspection.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The manager and responsible individual had identified that the child was not making progress living at the home. They liaised with professionals such as the child’s social worker and an in-house therapist to consider alternative approaches to support the child. When this was not effective, they put in clear plans to support the child’s move to an alternative provision more suited to their needs.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff have received regular practice-related supervision. Team meetings have been used as a learning opportunity to look at lessons learned. Additional training has been identified to support and develop staff practice. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: SC460761 3
