p.1

The provision is outstanding

The childminder implements an exciting and aspirational curriculum for children's learning. She has a great focus on children being outdoors and learning about the natural world. The childminder expertly plans her curriculum to support and enable children to be active learners through real-life experiences. Children have a genuine thirst to learn. They talk proudly about planting seeds and how they enjoy eating the foods they harvest. Children are highly motivated to learn about life cycles of plants and animals. They flourish in the childminder's provision.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

The childminder has very high expectations of children, who have incredibly close bonds with her and each other. Children are extremely well behaved and demonstrate high levels of social interactions and perseverance. They are extremely cooperative during play and understand the rules about turn taking and sharing. Older children spontaneously help younger children with difficult tasks, such as putting on their wellington boots.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

The childminder provides rich learning experiences for children. She uses skilful interactions to an extremely high level to support children's growing vocabulary. For example, the childminder introduces new words such as 'germination'. Children are exceptional communicators and speak with fluency when explaining the germination process. They describe how their seedlings need water and sunshine so they can grow roots and stems. Children also explain how the vegetables appear. Overall, children are gaining a wealth of knowledge and skills.

Children discuss the importance of visiting the dentist and brushing their teeth regularly. They demonstrate an excellent understanding of foods that are good for their bodies. For example, children make soup using organic vegetables, such as purple carrots, that they have grown. These meaningful experiences give children depth in learning. n During a walk to her allotment, the childminder asks children about things they see along the way. This generates lots of lively discussions as children delight in

For example, children who are a little delayed in their vocabulary have benefited immensely from the childminder's input. This has helped them to make rapid progress. n Children demonstrate high levels of critical thinking as they explore the pond on the allotment. For example, they engage in meaningful discussions about the frogspawn they have found. Children explore the texture of the frogspawn. The childminder skilfully builds on children's fascination by asking thought-provoking questions. For example, she asks how the frogspawn could change into a tadpole and then a frog. This challenges children to think. It also enables them to take part in scientific exploration, to help them gain a deep understanding of

life cycles. n Children's firsthand experiences of nature enable them to learn about habitats and environments. They visit the local beekeeper and wear special beekeeper suits, which helps them to keep safe. Children learn that bees make the honey. They also enjoy the responsibility of caring for an abandoned beehive. With great anticipation, children explore the beehive to see if it has attracted any bees to their new habitat. n Children develop an exceptional knowledge of how to keep themselves safe. The childminder takes time to discuss road safety with them. Children know how to keep safe near the roads. For example, they know to stop, look all around and use their ears to listen for cars. Children confidently describe how they must all keep looking and holding hands as they cross the road together. n The childminder has developed excellent partnerships with parents. She has created memory jars for parents to place special items relating to their children's
