p.1

The provision is outstanding

The childminder's expert understanding of how young children learn ensures that children have the best start to their education. She provides children with a curriculum that has breadth and depth, and she skilfully weaves this into children's play interests. For example, when children show an ongoing fascination in minibeasts, she links their personal learning targets to the activities she provides. This ensures that children have a consistently high level of engagement and motivation to play. Children learn about the lifecycle of a butterfly and then make links to how they have also changed since birth.

p.2

They frequently say 'I know' when they have an idea they want share or a solution to a problem. The childminder has high ambitions for each child and recognises when she needs to stand back to give children the opportunities to work things out for themselves.
