Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2577014 1 Advanced Adolescent Care Solutions Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is owned and managed by a private provider. It provides care for one child who may have social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager registered with Ofsted in November 2022.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was undertaken in response to a whistleblowing complaint. The allegations relate to the practice and conduct of a member of the management team.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Allegations that a member of the management team behaved in a way which is described as erratic and irate, led to a member of staff and the child making a complaint. A mediation meeting held the following day with the staff involved and chaired by a senior leader led to further concerns about the conduct of the individual. Despite the senior leader witnessing this behaviour and hearing directly about the nature of the concerns and the impact on the child, they have failed to acknowledge the seriousness of the concerns.
p.1
This monitoring visit
An investigation conducted by the senior leader resulted in no clear action in response to the concerns. There is no written account of the incident or of the mediation meeting. The staff involved have not been supported to raise their concerns in line with whistleblowing procedures. This experience has led to one member of staff resigning from their post due to feeling unsafe and lacking confidence that the provider would respond appropriately.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The child’s views, wishes and feelings have not been sought appropriately. The senior leader investigating has not spoken to the child about their complaint. At the Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2577014 2 monitoring visit, the child reported a decline in their mental health, and they said that the inspector was the first person to ask them about how they were feeling.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has failed to follow their own safeguarding processes. The senior leader has not shared the information objectively or in a timely way with all safeguarding professionals. This prevents the relevant agencies from fulfilling their role in the protection of children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Despite the seriousness of the concerns the information shared with Ofsted has sought to minimise those concerns. In addition, there was a significant delay in reporting the concerns through a notification. This prevents the regulator from having clear and timely oversight of the concerns and the actions taken by the provider. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2577014 3
