Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 19 March 2024, the provider notified us that an allegation had made against them. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage to notify Ofsted of a significant event which is likely to affect the suitability of the childminder to look after children.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We suspended the provider's registration on 20 March 2024, because we believe children may be at risk of harm. Suspension allows time for the provider to take steps to reduce or eliminate the risk of harm to children. The provider has a right to appeal against a suspension. The provider may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place and may commit an offence if they do so.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 2 April 2024, the provider appealed the decision to suspend registration to an independent external tribunal. The suspension remains in place while the Health, Education and Social Care First-tier Tribunal hears the appeal. The provider may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place and may commit an offence if they do so.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 5 April 2024 we carried out a regulatory visit to monitor compliance with the suspension notice. We found that although the provider was complying with the suspension notice, they were not meeting some of the requirements. We have issued actions for the provider to take. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this. The provider is still registered with Ofsted. Actions needed by 12 April 2024:

p.1

Summary of outcome

n ensure that staffing arrangements meet the needs of all children and that children are adequately supervised when visiting a soft play centre

p.1

Summary of outcome

n keep a record of any occasion where physical intervention is used, and inform parents and/or carers on the same day, or as soon as reasonably practicable.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 7 April 2024, the provider responded to the notice to say that they will assess each child's needs for each activity and where necessary will ensure increased supervision depending on the activity, making sure that children are able to be seen. The provider will also review their risk assessments.

p.1

Summary of outcome

In addition, the provider has also purchased an incident recording book to note full facts of incidents. They will also inform parents of any incidents by call or text message, on the same day. Parents will be asked to sign the incident record and they will receive a copy. The provider has updated their physical intervention policy. They will also be attending a safeguarding training course on 14 May 2024. We are satisfied with the action taken by the provider.

p.2

Summary of outcome

On 8 April 2024, the provider withdrew their appeal against the suspension before that was heard by an independent external tribunal. The provider's registration remained suspended.

p.2

Summary of outcome

On 30 April we carried out another regulatory visit to monitor compliance with the suspension notice. We also interviewed the provider following conclusion of other agency investigations. We lifted the suspension on 30 April 2024 because the provider took appropriate action to deal with the matter that led to the suspension. We are satisfied that the identified risk of harm to children has been removed.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
