Information about this inspection

 the care of children  the safety of children  the effectiveness of leaders and managers. The inspector has looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. This assurance inspection was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000 to assess the effectiveness of the service, how it meets the core functions of the service as set out in legislation, and to consider how well it complies with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the ‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards’. p.2

Findings from the inspection

This was the first inspection that the home has had since opening. The inspection has taken place due to the change in management.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Since the last inspection, staff have managed incidents effectively. This includes physical interventions, property damage and when children are missing from care. Leaders and the clinical team have worked hard with the staff team to understand children’s triggers of behaviour and strategies to support them. As a result, staff have responded appropriately, and children’s safety has been promoted. Staff have been provided with opportunities to reflect and to receive further training to enhance their knowledge.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Transitions for new children are planned well. Prior to children moving into the home, leaders ensure that the team is equipped to meet children’s needs. Transitions into the home are child focused, and children have felt valued by the staff around them.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

The home environment is homely, warm and well maintained. Following any property damage, the manager has ensured that repairs have been completed promptly.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Allegations and staff conduct issues have been followed up in a timely manner by the manager. Relevant professionals are always notified. Staff ensure that children have been well supported and provided with opportunities to discuss their concerns. The manager has ensured that staff can develop their knowledge following concerns being raised. This takes place through training and during staff supervision.
