the care of children the safety of children the effectiveness of leaders and managers. The inspector has looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. Findings from the inspection
We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Since the previous inspection, the children who were living in the home at this time have moved out. The previous manager has stepped down from this role in December 2023 and a new manager has been in post since February 2024.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Before the appointment of the current manager, the home was overseen by a registered manager from another home within the same organisation on an interim basis. The interim manager and responsible individual have worked to address some of the shortfalls identified at the previous inspection.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
One child has moved in since the previous inspection. Before they moved in, their needs were considered alongside the skills and experience of the staff team. Children’s support plans are of good quality and contain clear and up-to-date guidance for staff on how best to support children. The current child has only been living here for a short period. The child said that they enjoy living at the home and that they feel safe and happy.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Team meetings are used to good effect. The interim manager uses these opportunities to share updates and information with staff and to reflect on practice.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
When children move on from the home, managers and staff attempt to give them a positive ending to their time here. However, detailed planning for moves has proved more challenging as some children have left at short notice. Staff continue to provide outreach support for one child on a short-term basis which meets their needs and maintains relationships.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
When children have gone missing from home, staff have responded appropriately by following them and reporting them missing. Management oversight following incidents is variable in terms of quality and reflection on staff practice. Since the previous inspection, systems for management oversight have been reviewed and strengthened and more recent records have shown some improvement in this area.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff say that in recent weeks, morale has improved. They feel well supported by visible and approachable managers. The staff team currently consists of three core team members, and recruitment is underway for two vacancies. Other members of staff working in the home have been taken from another home within the organisation which is applying to register. . The responsible individual has advised that the timing of new staff starting and current team members returning to work at their allocated home will be carefully considered to minimise the impact on children.
p.2

Managers are currently considering new referrals for this home. The responsible individual acknowledges that a stable and established staff team and manager are Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2730493 3 important in ensuring consistent care and positive outcomes for children, and that this will be considered when reviewing the timing of any new child moving in.
