p.1

The provision is outstanding

Children thrive in the care of this warm and loving childminder. They show confidence and curiosity as they investigate the wide range of resources and activities the childminder plans for the day ahead. For example, as they explore outdoors, they use pots, pans and spoons to mix, pour and stir mud and water. This helps to develop their sense of imagination and builds on their small muscles and coordination skills. The childminder has an excellent understanding of child development. She uses her extensive knowledge to build on children's interests, and she delivers consistently high-quality interactions. The childminder ensures her curriculum securely adapts to the ages and needs of individual children. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are extensively supported by the childminder. As a result, all children make superb progress in relation to their starting points.

The provision is outstanding

The childminder has very high expectations of children's behaviour. She expertly encourages them to be kind, use their manners and think of others. The childminder is calm when explaining rules and consequences to the children. She gets down to their level and gains children's eye contact to ensure they listen and understand. This leads to children having excellent behaviour and they display this in their daily routines. For example, even the youngest children use their manners, help to tidy away and follow instructions really well. Children support each other with cuddles and share resources. They think of others and demonstrate a great sense of pride as they help each other. The childminder is highly successful in encouraging children to be independent. Older children are extremely confident when using the toilet, washing their hands and putting on their coats.
