p.1
The provision is good
The childminder has made improvements since the last inspection. She has clear intentions for what she wants children to achieve while they attend. The childminder monitors children's development closely and makes plans for activities and experiences that will interest and engage children in play. She includes the learning to help them to progress. Children are happy and feel safe and secure with the childminder. This is because she has formed close and nurturing relationships with children, and she ensures that she knows them well.

The provision is good
Children have fun in the childminder's garden. For example, young children develop their physical skills as they use a range of wheeled toys to travel in the space. They practise their skills on the climbing frame to climb up steps. The childminder shows them how to turn their bodies to slide down the slope. This supports the development of their coordination and balance. Children behave well. They listen and respond well to the childminder's guidance and praise for their efforts and achievements. Children gain the skills they need to prepare them for the next stage of learning.

need to do better?
n The childminder has made effective use of the support from the local authority to strengthen the delivery of her curriculum for children's learning. She uses information she gathers from parents when children first start to decide what they are ready to learn next. During her interactions with children, she includes opportunities for them to continually build on their prior learning. n In general, communication and language is promoted well. The childminder uses songs and stories for children to engage in and introduces new vocabulary in conversation while they play. She repeats keywords for children to hear and begin to use. However, there is scope to seek further professional development to help develop methods which aid children who need additional support to develop their speaking skills more rapidly. n Children develop increasing independence and are keen to do things for themselves. They show a willingness to keep trying. For example, young children

made attempts to tidy away toy boxes, carrying them back to the cupboard. They follow the childminder's guidance to turn the box and happily cheer together when they have successfully pushed it into its space. n The childminder provides opportunities for children to explore a range of materials and open-ended resources. She narrates their play and includes timely support to help build on what children already know. For example, they enjoy seeing the marks that different items make in playdough and filling egg containers with beads. The childminder shakes the egg and children grin and shake their eggs when they hear the sounds this makes. to make shakers.
