n The childminder clearly demonstrates her understanding of local safeguarding policy and procedures. She explains the potential signs and symptoms of abuse and knows how to currently report any concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder attends regular training to ensure that she is up to date with current legislation. This will help to keep children safe. n The childminder discusses how she plans to keep children safe in her home with the use of safety gates and fire guards, and the garden area is enclosed. She has risk assessments in place to demonstrate how she will minimise risks when on outings or visits to the local play centres. This will help children to learn how to manage their own risks. n The childminder demonstrates a good understanding of child development and how she plans to use this skill to plan well-sequenced learning experiences to challenge children to make good progress. She plans to use initial meetings with

parents, along with her own observations, to identify children's interests and needs. The childminder will then identify next steps or any gaps in their learning and work with parents to bridge these. n Through discussion, the childminder shows how she would plan learning experiences and opportunities to help children to make good progress. She aims to implement a curriculum that is based on children's interests and next steps in learning, which offers them opportunities to build on what they already know. The childminder understands the importance of effective questioning and communication in supporting children's deeper thinking. This will support children's speech and language development. n The childminder explains her approach to positive behaviour management. She plans to use distraction techniques if she notices children starting to become disruptive, for example, perhaps by giving them a task to engage in. The

childminder aims to offer praise and encouragement to help reinforce positive behaviour and help children to become aware of their feelings and emotions. This will help children to learn how their actions impact others. n Through discussion, the childminder demonstrates how she will promote children's independence skills. She will act as a role model to children, encouraging them to try things for themselves and showing them how to wash their own hands and put on their own coats. The childminder also plans to encourage children to help with cleaning up after themselves. This will help children to learn how to take ownership and responsibility for the environment around them.

This provision meets requirements

8 February 2024 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
