p.1

The provision is outstanding

The childminder and her assistant provide the very highest standard of care and education for the children they care for. They ensure that children's emotional well- being is strongly supported. As a result, children are extremely settled, happy and content and demonstrate a true eagerness for exploring and learning.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

The childminder and assistant have high expectations of children. Children have 'a voice' and their contributions and choices are listened to and respected at every opportunity. Very young children instigate their favourite songs and clearly express what they want through sign and spoken language. Given their very young age, children's behaviour is exemplary. They are constantly praised for their efforts and told 'good job'. Children show visible pride in their achievements and the acknowledgement from the childminder and assistant.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

Children's communication and language development is superbly supported. The childminder and assistant use correct language, such as 'claves', with very young children, so they learn the correct words for items from the start. Children learn about the tempo of songs and the associated language, such as 'faster'. Those who speak English as an additional language are expertly supported to make huge progress in their speech and understanding of language in both their home language and English.

n The childminder and assistant implement a clear and ambitious curriculum. They understand that children need a strong foundation that gives them the self- confidence, independence and eagerness to learn a wealth of other skills to support their future, such as when they go to school. n The childminder and assistant are passionate about their roles and tirelessly dedicate their time, expert knowledge and skills to ensuring each child they care for gets the very best early years experience. They constantly assess and evaluate their own and each other's practice to ensure it is always nothing less than outstanding. n The childminder and assistant have an exceptional knowledge about each child they care for and their families. This helps them to deliver a truly personalised service based on everyone's needs. There is a huge emphasis on working collaboratively with parents to ensure they are fully involved in every single

aspect of their children's learning journey. n Both the childminder and assistant have excellent teaching skills. They make use of every opportunity to promote children's next steps and extend or reinforce learning. This results in all children making rapid progress from their starting points. For example, as very young children spend extended periods of time

need to do better?

17 January 2024 trying to fit different items through tubes, the childminder and assistant give children time to try different approaches, especially when a ball fits in the tube but does not fall out as expected. They extend children's language and promote curiosity, for example, by posing simple questions, such as 'I wonder if….' Later, children demonstrate the skills they have learned, such as 'having a go', perseverance and problem-solving, while using other resources. n Excellent, collaborative partnerships have been established with parents. They speak most highly of the care their children receive and the substantial progress they make. They describe the childminder and her assistant as caring, dedicated, energetic and patient, with the most creative outlook on raising children. n The childminder and assistant use a wealth of professional development opportunities to increase their already extensive knowledge and skills. They use

They both have a wide knowledge of the different types of harm, especially those that may be more prevalent in the local community.
