The provision is good

The childminder and her assistant have a calm, caring approach. Children feel safe and ready to learn. The childminder plans the environment using children's interests. This supports children to engage in play. The children are enthusiastic and are excited to join in adult-led activities. The childminder plans children's learning based on what they can do and what they need to learn next. The curriculum is well thought out, and all children are making good progress from their starting points. For example, the children have fun learning how to make play dough and carefully listen and follow instructions. The activity helps strengthen their hand muscles and the childminder and her assistant are ready to help when needed. The children take turns mixing the ingredients. The childminder extends their learning by introducing new words, such as 'cream of tartar and cinnamon'. She skilfully includes mathematical concepts, such as counting and measuring. The

n The childminder is passionate about her role and providing good-quality care and education for young children. With her assistant, they plan the children's learning and their next steps. They attend targeted training that impacts positively on their delivery of the curriculum. This has enabled them to make changes to the play spaces and children's access to resources, providing them with more opportunities to explore independently. n All children develop good language skills. The childminder understands the importance of children having books read to them and singing songs. The childminder plans the day with the children. She uses visual pictures to help them remember what will happen next. This supports children to understand expectations and follow daily routines well. n Children learn some independence skills. Each day there are different snack helpers, who help to chop up the fruit using safety knives. However, the

For example, children pretend to cook pasta for lunch and the childminder suggests that they look for natural resources, such as twigs, grass and leaves to use in their cooking. n The childminder plans the curriculum, so that children learn about diversity and different cultures. For example, the children learn about Diwali and Christmas celebrations. The children play with dolls, and have books read to them to help them learn beyond their own experiences to reflect the wider diverse community. This helps children to develop an understanding of how their lives are similar and different from others. n The children have lots of opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, they practise riding bicycles. The childminder and her assistant extend children's physical skills further by taking them to visit local parks and 'Play

The childminder and her assistant know the children and their families well. Parents feel very well informed about their child's day. They value the childminder's open and honest communication. They comment on how quickly their children settle and form positive relationships with their key person.
