This monitoring visit
On 5 September 2023, an assurance inspection was carried out at the home. This was due to a serious incident that had taken place. Serious concerns were identified at that inspection. As a result, the provider was issued a restriction of accommodation notice. Following the inspection, the organisation provided Ofsted with an action plan in relation to providing safe care for a child who was living at the home.

This monitoring visit
On 14 September 2023, a monitoring visit was carried out at the home. The purpose of the visit was to assess the provider’s progress against the action plan submitted to Ofsted. At the monitoring visit, it was identified that none of the proposed actions in the action plan had been addressed or completed. Furthermore, additional serious concerns were identified. Following the monitoring visit, the provider was issued with a notice suspending the home’s registration.

This monitoring visit
On 18 October 2023, a further monitoring visit was carried out at the home. The purpose of the visit was to review the provider’s progress against the reasons set out in the notice suspending registration and other identified shortfalls. Some progress had been made. The provider had started to implement an improvement plan. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2504775 2 However, some aspects of the plan were yet to be implemented and those improvements that had been started were not fully embedded. Consequently, the provider was not ready to accept children into the home. Therefore, the notice suspending registration remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this latest monitoring visit was to consider the provider’s compliance with the suspension notice and to assess progress of the improvement plan. At the time of the visit, external investigations regarding a serious incident that had occurred at the home remained ongoing.

This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have completed a review of children’s care plans and have implemented individualised care plans for each child. This includes consultation with parents and relevant health professionals. A pre-admission checklist is in place to ensure that up-to-date and relevant information relating to children is known and fully understood by staff before children stay at the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have completed a review of staff knowledge and skills. They identified some shortfalls. To address this, staff have completed a programme of training and workshops, including reporting and recording, incident management and enteral feeding systems. To further support staff, they have been provided with protocols and guidelines that have been written in consultation with relevant professionals, for example, medical and nursing professionals.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Senior leaders have reviewed the home’s policy of overnight monitoring. The provider has introduced waking night staff as well as additional monitoring aids to provide care and support for children who require overnight monitoring. Each child’s risk assessment identifies their individual overnight monitoring needs.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Senior leaders have implemented a quality assurance and monitoring system. However, this is not yet fully embedded as children have not been accessing the home due to the suspension notice. The registered manager and responsible individual understand their responsibility to ensure effective oversight of the quality of care provided to children. Regular supervision and team meetings are in place to support the continual professional development of staff.
p.2
This monitoring visit
