Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage', which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 13 November 2023 the childminder notified us that other agencies were investigating an unexplained injury sustained by a child. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the early years foundation stage welfare requirements to notify Ofsted of any significant event which is likely to affect the suitability of the early years provider.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We suspended the childminder's registration for a short period to ensure that children were not at risk of harm while we established what might have happened. The childminder will be able to tell parents more about this.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We spoke to the other agencies involved and visited the childminder. We found no breaches to requirements in relation to the reported injury. However, we found gaps in the childminder's records that must be maintained. She did not have the required details for all of the minded children. There was also no record of the other agencies involvement in the investigation.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We issued a notice to improve. This is a notice that asks the provider to comply with the action below within the timescales set out.

p.1

Summary of outcome

Action needed: Ensure records, that must be maintained for safe and efficient management, are kept up to date, so that children's ongoing needs can be met. In this case, this relates to children's personal details and a confidential log of incidents where other agencies have been involved. By 22 December 2023.

p.1

Summary of outcome

The childminder responded within timescales to explain how she had updated her records. We were satisfied with their response and took no further action. The provider remains registered.

p.1

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
