Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2556338 1
p.1
BTTLR LIMITED
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is privately owned. The home provides care for one child with social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
There has been no registered manager in post since January 2022. A new manager was appointed in June 2023. Ofsted has received an application for the manager to register.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 5 and 6 June 2023. Serious and widespread failures were identified in the leadership and management of the home and the protection of children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 31 August 2023, Ofsted issued a second restriction of accommodation notice to prevent any new children from being admitted to the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There were no children living in the home at the time of this visit and therefore the organisation is complying with the restriction of accommodation notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home has undergone a thorough clean and redecoration while there have been no children living there. Improvements to the décor, furnishings and outside spaces are visible.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home has been without a registered manager since January 2022. The responsible individual has appointed a new manager, who has submitted his application to register with Ofsted. He started in post on 28 June 2023. A dual application has been made for this home and another home run by the same provider. The new manager is sufficiently qualified and experienced. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2556338 2 An accurate picture of the staffing structure is now available. This is positive and has enabled the regulator to evaluate the experience and qualifications of the staff who work at the children’s home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Improvements have been made to the statement of purpose. This is now a more accurate reflection of the service provided to children and will assist stakeholders who might be considering placements with the provider.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Most staff have now completed their residential childcare diploma qualification. During the period of restriction, additional training has been offered to staff, which is positive. Supervision meetings and team meetings have been used to reflect collectively on lessons learned and to uplift the staff team during a difficult period.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The responsible individual does not meet the regulatory requirement for their nominated position. They lack the capacity, experience, and skills to supervise the management of the home. Ofsted has undertaken a full evaluation of their suitability. It remains Ofsted’s view that the current leadership is not sufficiently robust. This will be addressed through the issuing of a compliance notice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Given the recruitment of a suitably qualified and experienced manager, and the progress made, the restriction notice will now be lifted. Progress against the requirements made at the full inspection were not reviewed at this monitoring visit so they will be considered at the next inspection.
