Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC457621 1 SC457621 Cambian Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is owned and operated by a large private provider. It is registered to provide care for up to two children with social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home has been closed since September 2021. Ofsted imposed a condition that the home must inform the regulator of its intention to accommodate children at the home at least three months before any child is accommodated. This was following a serious safeguarding concern.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is led by a manager who has applied to become registered with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was undertaken in response to the provider notifying Ofsted of its intention to begin accommodating children. The purpose of this visit was to assess whether the home was ready to begin accommodating children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At the time of the visit, there were insufficient staff to begin accepting children into the home. Indeed, only one staff member had been recruited and they were yet to start their employment. Leaders in the organisation and the manager are actively recruiting staff and are at various stages of that process. However, there are insufficient suitably trained and skilled staff employed to provide care and support to children. Therefore, Ofsted could not assess whether children would be provided with safe and consistent care.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The physical environment of the home has undergone some improvement and renovation work and is homely. The manager has plans for further redecoration and repurposing of some areas of the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
As the home is not able to provide suitable care to children, the three-month condition will remain in place. A further monitoring visit will be arranged to assess the home once the provider gives further notice of their intention to accommodate children and assurances as to sufficient staff to care for children.
