p.1

The provision is outstanding

The inspirational and dedicated childminder has created an environment where children arrive confident and eager to learn. The childminder greets children with an extremely warm welcome. Children thrive and are particularly safe and secure in this child-centred environment. They immediately settle into the well-established routines. For example, the childminder encourages them to sit in a circle, say good morning and describe how they are feeling. Children also discuss the learning that they will engage in during the day. They independently access resources to enhance their play. They self-select their favourite activities and are fully engrossed in their play. Children excitedly participate in adult-led experiences, attentively listening to the childminder's instructions.

Children independently select resources to make their card. The childminder encourages them to have a go and models how to take the stickers off independently. Children confidently express what they like and dislike. The childminder organises regular trips to the local shops, where children buy groceries for their cooking activity, such as to make a healthy pizza. Children develop their hand-to-eye coordination skills and use knives with supervision to cut fruit and vegetables. Children also benefit from visiting lots of different parks, where they practise developing their ongoing physical development skills.
