Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2724258 1 Registered provider: Cedarways Residential Care
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home provides care for up to three children who have been affected by adverse childhood experiences that have led to associated trauma and complex behaviours.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home was registered on 29 June 2023. There is a registered manager in post.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home was registered one week before this visit. This visit is in response to information provided to Ofsted by the responsible individual. The purpose of this visit was to ensure that all three children living at the home were safe and being cared for by adequately vetted staff.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The children appeared relaxed and happy in the home and showed the inspector their bedrooms, which were well maintained and tidy. The children said that they liked the home and staff and had everything that they needed.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The inspector found that, before the home was registered, one director and a third party, not recognised by the provider, accepted three children into their care. Pending the home accepting these children, arrangements were made for them to spend two nights in a holiday let. As a result, three children were accommodated in an unregulated provision staffed by this provider. This information was not shared with Ofsted during the registration process.
p.1
This monitoring visit
These individuals have now left the organisation and senior leaders informed the inspector that they were completing an internal investigation into these concerns. This process will ensure that the provider learns from this event and adheres to their own policies in the future. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2721798 2 Senior leaders had not fully considered all the care needs for each child when they agreed to the three children being placed in the home. The decision-makers did not give sufficient consideration to whether the registered manager or responsible individual felt that they could safely meet all the children’s needs.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has now taken steps to appropriately consider the children’s local authority plans, to inform their internal placement planning. Consequently, staff now have clear plans to follow when supporting all the children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Recruitment records and rotas seen found that children were being cared for by safe adults who had also completed appropriate training to support the children’s needs. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2721798 3
