p.1
The provision is good
Children enjoy their time at the setting and receive a warm welcome. The childminder and her assistants are sensitive to the needs of new children and provide lots of reassuring cuddles. Children build their confidence to separate from adults as they are encouraged to explore resources that interest them. The childminder takes on a lead role in supporting children's learning and is a good role model to her assistants as they build their knowledge and skills.
p.2
The provision is good
The day is organised to offer a good variety of indoor and outdoor experiences. Indoors, young children explore 'feely' books and are fascinated when touching different textures. They confidently turn the pages of board books and are keen to see what is on the next page. Outdoors, older children show skill and perseverance as they balance on coloured stepping stones. They beam with pride when they reach the end and give a 'high five'.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder is particularly skilled at introducing simple mathematical concepts in children's play. They count during songs and talk about colours, shapes and size as they engage in their learning. Children know a range of familiar songs and rhymes. They move their bodies and copy actions as they have fun singing 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm'. Children contribute their ideas by saying which animals they want to sing about and repeat familiar phrases. This helps to support their language development.

n Since the last inspection, good progress has been made to address the actions raised. The childminder has been reflective and has welcomed external support to make the required improvements. This means that children's learning opportunities have improved and they are cared for in a safe environment. n The childminder has put greater focus on supporting her assistants to develop their skills and knowledge. They work as a team to share ideas, and a supervision system is in place to identify training needs. This is currently in the early stages. More targeted support is required to ensure that assistants develop secure skills to consistently support children's learning and development. n Children are supported to manage their feelings and behaviour. They are encouraged to be considerate to each other, such as being gentle and using their 'kind hands'. Children understand the routines and are learning to be

independent. They confidently put on their shoes when getting ready to go and play in the garden. n The childminder is skilled at introducing new vocabulary to children. She uses opportunities to build on children's language, for example by using descriptive words, such as 'spicy' and 'metal', as children pretend to make cakes in the mud

7 July 2023 kitchen. However, snack times and mealtimes are not always organised to maximise children's learning opportunities. Children's chairs are positioned in a way that limits them from engaging with each other to support their social skills. Additionally, there is a lack of focus on having meaningful conversations to support children's language development further. n There are effective systems in place to identify and support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The childminder engages well with parents and understands the importance regular communication to ensure that children receive the right targeted support. n Parents say that their children enjoy attending the setting and that they have seen their children make good progress. They find the childminder and her assistants friendly and say that they appreciate the feedback they receive about their children's development. Parents enjoy hearing their children sing songs

they have learned at the setting. n The childminder ensures that children have good opportunities to explore outdoors by being physically active and enjoying a range of meaningful experiences. Trips to the library, parks and local museum provide children with good opportunities to learn about the world around them. n The childminder is committed to developing her own skills to support better outcomes for children. She is undertaking a leadership and management course and takes time to research new ideas to develop her knowledge and practice.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has improved her safeguarding knowledge to support children's safety and welfare in the setting. More focus has been given to developing the assistants' understanding of safeguarding matters and their knowledge is tested out. The childminder and her assistants know the correct procedures to follow if they have concerns about a child. Risk assessments have been improved to ensure that children are cared for safely. The childminder and her assistants are vigilant about ensuring that children are well supervised. They are mindful of potential risks. For example, they cut fruit for children into small pieces to minimise the risk of choking.
